Exploring Tasmania one step at a time.

One girl, unlimited adventures.

Join me as I explore the Tasmanian wilderness. I hope to bring a little of the wonder of the bush to those that can’t explore, fond memories back to those that used to explore, and inspiration to those yet to explore.

Who Is Xing?

Hi Guys - Tracey here. Everyone knows me as Xing. I am a bushwalking enthusiast from Launceston in Tasmania - the small island state off mainland Australia. I have been bushwalking for around 4 years with friends, bushwalking clubs and often solo too. I am far, far, far from a expert - I am however extremely enthusiastic when it comes to all things bushwalking.

I am a Beauty Therapist by trade and am lucky to work for myself looking after some pretty amazing women. When not at work or out adventuring, you will find me hanging with friends, my two amazing grown up children or one of my many, many cats…!

Where & why I walk.

As long as I am in the bush I am happy! Whether it is a stroll around our local gorge or an off track mutli day mission into the wilderness - it doesn’t matter.

For me pleasure comes from the shared experiences with friends or the challenges of a solo adventure. The pureness of nature, the joy of seeing native animals in their own habitat and the sense of being connected to the bush around me.

How did I get into bushwalking?

Until four years ago I had never been on a bushwalk! I happened upon a Facebook ad one day for a local walking company. I started walking and realised walking was for me!

I started reading blogs and books on bushwalking, joined bushwalking clubs (check out the Pandani Bushwalking Club) and even flew to NSW to do a course in compass and map navigation. I can highly recommend Ashely at MountainSphere Navigational Training. Every bushwalker should be highly proficient with a compass and map.

With Gratitude.

Those of you that know me from a past life, know that whilst this website may be a new creation some of the adventures contained within it happened over the last few years.

I’ve always been more of a writer, not a photographer so I apologise if some of my older essays are lacking a few photos!

Were it not for the help of some very special friends all my essays might be picture-less! I could not possibly have created these stories to share without the generous support of the following people;

Bender, Simon, Jess, Grahame, Ben Y and Cathy, Haydyn and Natalie, Sally-Anne, Lynnda, Chris, Jenna, Sohee, Matt, Lucas, Becca, Tim and Vivienne.

Life was meant for good friends and great adventures.
